MARIA BLANCA CAMINERO

María Blanca Caminero is a full professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) in Albacete, Spain. She has been a professor for more than 20 years at the School of Computer Science Engineering (ESII), UCLM Albacete Campus.

She has taught different subjects in both undergraduate and graduate programs (Technical Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program and Master’s Program in Advanced Technologies in Computer Science). She has served as advisor or co-advisor for over 40 final projects, bachelor’s theses and master’s theses mainly related to computer networks and service planning for distributed computing environments (grid, cloud, fog). Since 1997, she has been involved in several research projects related to computer network management and distributed computing environments (grid, cloud, fog) at European (two), national (nine) and regional (six) levels.

As a result of her work, she has published more than 80 research papers (journal articles and national/international conference papers) as well as various book chapters. Moreover, she has been a co-advisor for four theses in an international doctoral program with a major in quality. She currently participates in a project funded by the Spanish government aimed at improving infrastructure resource management and planning in fog computing for the Internet of things. Among other strategies, blockchain possibilities and capabilities are also being explored in this computing environment. From June 2018 to April 2021, she served as deputy director of planning and economic development at ESII and, since June 2021, she has been working as coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Advanced Technologies in Computer Science at UCLM.
