Elvira G. Rincón Flores is a PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Salamanca within the Training in the Knowledge Society program, Cum Laude thesis. Her research theme was Gamification based on challenges in massive open innovation environments in the area of energy sustainability. She completed a master’s degree in Finance and another in Education with a Specialty in Mathematics, at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. She is a professor of this same University since 1993 in the Department of Engineering and Sciences, she teaches Differential and Integral Calculus courses both for the careers in the area of Engineering and in the area of Administration and Social Sciences. She has published three books, two of them are used as a textbook in the same institution and has developed two chapters of books on the subject of Gamification.

On the other hand, she has advised more than 20 master’s thesis students, who developed their research on Mathematics didactics, from pre-school education to university education in Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Argentina. Some of these investigations have been presented at national and international congresses. Elvira is part of the subproject “Open innovation, interdisciplinary and collaborative to train in energy sustainability through MOOCs” within the macro project Binational Laboratory, with gamification design activities based on challenges as a component of educational innovation. She also belongs to the GRIAL research groups of the University of Salamanca and the GIEE-CTS of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. She is currently leading two research projects: Adaptive based on predictive (Learning Analytics) and MOOCLabs in MOOC environments.
